Got the Vektor IOM Pland today, but they fail to show spacing between stations. E-mailed supplier to see about spacing. Plan on starting after ordering supplies
Hi Chip, I'll look at my plans later today for you, but the stations are usually every 10cm except for the bow, which is located 20mm back from the finished bow to allow for a bumper. When I built the plug for my mold, that's how I did it, making sure to put the side of the station toward the bow or stern so the thickness of the station board does not affect the shape. I also used a laser level to get them all lined up when I was mounting them. I have some photos of a build at http://rcgroups.com and search for "IOM build". There are also some photos at http://flickr.com/photos/hew_hamilton in the Vektor folder.
100mm between each I found out. Measure once cut twice. I photocopied the stations and apparently, someone had the copy machine at 95% or so sizing. After cutting them out, glueing them on and cutting all 11 stations on the plywood, I realized that they were all short. The widest one was close to an 3/4' narrower. AARGH. Back to the drawing board to start again.
Welcome to my blog. I will be documenting my build of an RC (remote control) Sailboat, an IOM (International One Meter).
As the name suggests, it is one meter long or 39.4 inches and will be built out of balsa wood, fiberglass and epoxy. I have experience building with plans and this is my 6th or 7th boat built, my second IOM. Enjoy and please feel free to share any tips, advice or other suggestions.
FYI... for the newbies, there are two servos used to control the boat. One steers the rudder, and the other adjusts the sails to adapt to wind direction.
Anyone with any advice on the spacing for each one as well as
